“Wizard of Oz” Auditions

Seeking energetic and vibrant performers, ages 8 and up!

Synopsis:
When a young girl named Dorothy and her dog Toto are swept away by a tornado, they find themselves in the magical land of Oz. Determined to find her way home, Dorothy sets off on a journey to meet the Wizard of Oz, who may hold the power to send her back to Kansas. Along the way, she befriends a Scarecrow who longs for a brain, a Tinman who dreams of having a heart, and a Cowardly Lion seeking courage. Together, they travel the Yellow Brick Road, facing challenges and working together to outsmart the Wicked Witch of the West, who is determined to steal Dorothy’s ruby slippers. Their adventure is a heartwarming tale of friendship, bravery, and self-discovery.

IN-PERSON AUDITIONS

Thursday, March 20 — 7:00–9:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 22 — 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

  • Please prepare approximately 16 bars of a song in the style of the show.
  • Bring your sheet music — an accompanist will be provided.
  • You may also sing to a backing track on your phone if preferred.

CALLBACKS

Tuesday, March 25 — Starting at 6:00 p.m.

CALLBACK PROCEDURE

  • The callback list will include the roles you are being considered for and your callback time.
  • You may be asked to do cold readings with other actors during the callback process.
  • Memorization of music and lines is not required.
  • Choreography will be part of the callback — please wear appropriate shoes.

REHEARSALS

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays — 6:00–9:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays — 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. (beginning March 27)
  • Music rehearsals for leads will be scheduled on Wednesdays in April.
  • The ensemble will learn music during Saturday rehearsals.

FIRST CAST MEETING

Thursday, March 27 — 6:00 p.m.

  • Receive your script, schedule, and WhatsApp information.
  • Costume measurements will be taken.
