High Valley Arts Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to enriching lives through excellence in the arts and is staffed by volunteers. All donations are used to expand programs to elevate the community. The group presents a broad range of artistic events with a focus on the heritage of the community. High Valley Arts Foundation was incorporated as a 501(c)3 organization in January, 2009, with Sue Waldrip as chair.
In July of 2009, HVAF presented The Sound of Music outdoors at the Zermatt Resort to rave reviews and sellout crowds. However, by the summer of 2011, Zermatt had begun to stage outdoor weddings and it was impossible to continue to use the venue for musicals.
In March of 2011, the Millstream Group, a properties management business in Midway, agreed to let HVAF stage a musical on their property at 400 East 250 South. And thus was born the High Valley Arts Outdoor Summer Theater! The Millstream Group has been generous with their time and resources, grading the property and burying electrical and plumbing lines. Volunteers worked to prepare the site, including pouring a cement slab and volunteering time and materials for everything from concrete to pipes to lumber to plants to a giant rock to grace the entry. Volunteers helped build the backstage building, the permanent stage, and a tech booth. High Valley Arts has presented The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma!, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamboat, and most recently, The Wizard of Oz on the outdoor stage.
High Valley Arts also presents a Christmas musical in December in Midway’s historic Town Hall along with a Fundraising Dinner Theater featuring elegantly decorated tables and a live auction of original works of art. The most recent production presented in the historic Town Hall was Beauty and the Beast. Annie will be presented in December of 2016.
HVAF is a major participant in Midway’s Small Town Fourth, offering legacy home tours, a slide presentation on the history of the area, and an informative presentation featuring early artifacts and the stories of their owners.
In order to continue presenting uplifting musicals and heritage arts events, High Valley Arts depends upon contributions from community members and businesses. We invite you to join our growing group of supporters.
