Improv Principles Summer Workshop
Tuesday and Thursday, July 8, 10, 15, & 17 – 6-8 pm
High Valley Arts Studio – 210 East Main, Midway
This is a four-session course designed to introduce students (ages 12 and up) to the fundamentals of improvisational performance. The course will focus on building trust, listening, creative collaboration, and performance confidence. Through games, exercises, and scene work, students will develop tools that apply not only to stage performance but to communication, teamwork, and everyday problem-solving.
Sample topics & Games Covered:
Mimic Machine (group cohesion & trust)
“Yes, And” drills (acceptance and building)
Big, Bigger, Biggest (heightening and game)
Revolver, Scene Jams, and more

David Thorpe brings over ten years of experience performing and teaching improvisation. He performs regularly with The Belvederes, Improv Broadway, and ComedySportz, and is known for creating welcoming, high-energy classes that encourage students to take creative risks while building practical skills.
