Fiddler on the Roof” Auditions

Seeking energetic and vibrant performers, ages 8 and up!

SYNOPSIS: In the small Jewish village of Anatevka, Russia of 1905, milkman Tevye struggles to uphold his deeply held traditions amid societal change, grappling with anti-Semitism and his daughters’ desires to marry for love. With humor and heart, the spirited story delves into family, faith, and the resilience of tradition amidst upheaval.

IN PERSON AUDITIONS:  Tuesday, April 16, 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, April 18, 7-9 p.m.  Please plan to sing about 16 bars of a song in the style of the show.  Please bring your sheet music and an accompanist will be provided, or you can sing to music on your phone. If you need a song to sing, you may sing either “Matchmaker” or “Miracle of Miracles.” Sheet music and an mp3 tape for these songs is included in the CALLBACKS section.

 

CALLBACKS:  Saturday, April 20 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Callbacks will be posted April 17 for the first group of auditioners and April 19 for the second group.

 

PLEASE NOTE: Music which will be required for callbacks is included below as a courtesy to give auditioners time to review it.  Names of those invited to callbacks will be posted as scheduled above. Tap on “Sheet music” and then “mp3” to download each file.

CALLBACK PROCEDURE: The callback information will list actors and the role or roles for which you are being considered and the time for your callback.Music and dialogue you will use to prepare for your callback will be posted by Saturday, March 16 which can be used in advance of your first audition. You may also be asked to do cold readings with a variety of actors during the audition process. Neither music nor lines need to be memorized.

 

More extensive choreography will be a part of your callback. Please wear appropriate shoes.

 

REHEARSALS: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 6-9:30 p.m. Saturdays 9-1 p.m. beginning April 23.

 

FIRST CAST MEETING: Tuesday, April 23, 6 pm.  You will receive your script, a schedule, information about What’s App, and be measured for costumes.

 

PERFORMANCES: July 5-20.  No performances on Sundays or Tuesdays.

 

All regular rehearsals will be held at the High Valley Arts’ Studio – 210 East Main Street, Midway (please enter from the back entrance stairs leading down to the basement). For more info, please call or text David Thorpe, Director, (801) 497-6716.
